W. Pitts Carr, Esq.

W. Pitts Carr, Esq. is one of the founding partners of the nationally recognized law firm Carr, Tabb, Pope & Freeman, which is now Carr & Palmer. During his more than 30-year tenure as a trial attorney, Mr. Carr has become one of the most respected and experienced attorneys in the Southeast. He has been described as a tough litigator with a reputation for professionalism and high ethical standards in the courtroom. He also is known for his unequaled success rate.  

He is named in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Pre-eminent Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Georgia Super Lawyers peer-selected list, and has been featured in Georgia Super Lawyers magazine. Mr. Carr has authored more than forty articles for distinguished publications, including American Bar Association Journal, Georgia Bar Journal and various transportation publications. He has also been a featured speaker for ICLE programs sponsored by the Georgia Bar Association on more than twenty occasions.
 
Mr. Carr graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Georgia, followed by a law degree from Duke University in 1972. Mr. Carr is a member of the American Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association, and was a former board member for the National Association of Securities and Commercial Law Attorneys. He was named by Georgia Governor Joe Frank Harris to serve as Chairman of the Governor’s Commission on Tort Reform for the State of Georgia, Chairman of the Board of Medical Assistance, and member of the Merit System of Personnel and Georgia Board of Human Resources.  
 
He has served on the boards of numerous charitable and religious organizations including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Leukemia Society, and St. Jude's House. He is the current chairman of the Atlanta Union Mission. A native of Thomasville, Georgia, Mr. Carr resides in Atlanta with his wife, Julie, and their four children. He is an avid pilot and outdoorsman, as well as an active member of the New York Yacht Club.

Emory L. Palmer
Emory L. Palmer earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in 1995, followed by a law degree from the University of Georgia in 1999.  That year he was admitted to practice in the State of Georgia, including all Georgia state courts, the United States District Court of the Northern District of Georgia, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.  Mr. Palmer has been admitted pro hac vice in numerous state and federal jurisdictions in all parts of the country.

Mr. Palmer's practice focuses on litigation, including trials and appeals of complex commercial litigation and professional liability cases and insurance coverage litigation.  He has extensive experience in wrongful death and other personal injury cases.  Mr. Palmer specializes in insurance coverage disputes in the area of professional E&O and directors and officers policies for insurance carriers as well as insured businesses and individuals.  He handles other insurance litigation in addition to general commercial litigation including real estate, banking and securities cases.
 
In the area of professional liability defense, Mr. Palmer has represented numerous attorneys in legal malpractice actions throughout the state of Georgia. He has represented firms ranging in size from 150+ lawyer national firms to solo practitioners. He has successfully defended these cases in both state and federal court, including jury trials and appeals. Mr. Palmer has also successfully defended a number of attorneys before the State Bar of Georgia Disciplinary Board.
 
Mr. Palmer joined in the firm in 2004 and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, Atlanta Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Professional Liability Underwriting Society, National Propane Gas Defense Association and Federal Bar Association.  Mr. Palmer served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1987 until 1991.
